Shopify & Shopify Plus Development

A Shopify Plus agency in Los Angeles that builds the store, then stays to run it.

Start a project

Most Shopify problems aren’t really Shopify problems. A theme bought off a marketplace and bent past what it was made for. A migration that quietly dropped half the brand’s search rankings. An agency that launched the store, sent a final invoice, and disappeared the first time something broke. The platform is rarely the issue. The way it was built and the fact that nobody is running it usually are.

Metrix Digital is a Shopify Plus agency in Los Angeles that builds stores around the buying journey and then stays to operate them. We build on Shopify and Shopify Plus, in custom themes or headless when there’s a reason for it, and we migrate brands off Magento, WooCommerce, and older builds without surrendering the SEO equity they spent years earning. Fast load times and a clean path to checkout are build standards here, not upsells. And we tell you plainly when standard Shopify is the right answer instead of pushing every brand toward the more expensive tier.

The difference is that we build and run. The same senior team that ships your store owns its performance afterward — platform updates, conversion testing, new features, the merchandising support a growing brand actually needs. We’re an AI-amplified agency: people make the architecture and design calls and stay accountable for them, while AI and agentic systems handle the repeatable work so that senior time goes where judgment matters. That’s how a Shopify build keeps compounding instead of aging the day it goes live.

Platforms & approach

The right platform, then the build.

What we do

Built and run, end to end.

Shopify & Shopify Plus builds

New stores and rebuilds on Shopify and Shopify Plus. We start from the buying journey, not a template, and ship a storefront that loads fast, reads clearly, and is built for the way your team actually merchandises. Custom theme work, structured for editors to run without a developer in the loop.

Theme and headless front ends

Most brands are best served by a well-built Liquid theme. Some have a reason to go headless — a content-heavy front end, a custom app layer, performance at the edge. We build both, and we tell you plainly which one your business needs instead of selling the more expensive answer by default.

Platform migrations

Moving from Magento, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, or an older Shopify build. We map products, variants, customers, order history, URLs, and SEO equity before anything moves, then cut over without losing rankings or breaking the links Google already trusts. The migrations that go wrong are the ones nobody planned.

Plus features and checkout extensibility

The reason to be on Plus is what you can do with it. Checkout extensibility and Functions, Shopify Scripts where still in play, B2B, Launchpad for timed launches, and Flow for automation. We implement the Plus capabilities that move revenue and skip the ones that just add surface area.

Apps, integrations, and custom code

ERP, 3PL, subscriptions, reviews, search, loyalty, ESP, and the analytics layer underneath. We connect the apps that earn their keep, build custom where an off-the-shelf app would force a bad compromise, and keep the stack lean so your store stays fast and maintainable.

Conversion and performance

A fast store is a conversion feature, not a vanity metric. We hold Core Web Vitals as a build standard, tighten the path from product page to checkout, and run structured experiments on the moments that decide a sale. Speed and clarity first, clever second.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

What's the difference between Shopify and Shopify Plus, and do I need Plus?

Plus is the enterprise tier. It adds checkout extensibility, Functions and Scripts, B2B wholesale, Launchpad, more automation, and higher API limits, at a higher monthly cost. You need it when those capabilities map to real revenue — custom checkout logic, high launch volume, wholesale, or scale that strains the standard plan. If they don't, standard Shopify is the right call and we'll say so. We don't push brands onto Plus to pad an invoice.

Do you build custom themes or headless storefronts?

Both, and we pick based on your business, not on what's fashionable. A well-built custom Liquid theme covers most mid-market brands with less cost and less to maintain. Headless makes sense when you have a content-heavy front end, a custom app layer, or a specific performance ceiling to break. We walk you through the trade-off before a line of code is written.

Can you migrate my store to Shopify without losing SEO?

Yes, and protecting search equity is part of the plan from day one, not a cleanup afterward. We inventory every URL, set up redirects, preserve metadata and structured data, and match the new information architecture to the rankings you already have. Migrations lose traffic when the redirect map is an afterthought. Ours is built before cutover and verified after.

Do you keep running the store after launch, or is it build-and-leave?

We run it. Metrix builds and operates — that's the core of how we work. After launch we own ongoing development, app and platform updates, performance, conversion testing, and merchandising support. A store is a living system; the value compounds when the same team that built it keeps improving it.

How does AI factor into how you build?

Metrix is an AI-amplified agency, not an AI agency. The people make the calls on architecture, UX, and what ships. We use AI and agentic systems to move faster on the repeatable work — content scaffolding, QA passes, data migration checks, reporting — so senior time goes to judgment instead of busywork. AI sets the cadence; people are accountable for the result.

What size brands do you work with?

Mid-market brands, roughly $1–10M in revenue, that have outgrown a DIY store or a previous agency build. Big enough that the store is a serious revenue channel, small enough that one capable partner who builds and runs it beats a roster of disconnected vendors.
